Tree Funeral On Trafalgar Square

Artist Angela Palmer hauled the remains of culled giant trees from the Suhuma forest reserve in western Ghana to Trafalgar Square in London to comment on global deforestation. Ghana itself has lost 90% of its rainforest in the past 50 years.
The Raintree team from South Africa decided to honour both her initiative and the trees. Raintree hired a Scottish piper to play funeral dirges to the trees, the forests and the people from all over the world who were gathered in Trafalgar Square.
It was emotional and thought provoking and will be followed by other ideas that help people to embrace issues like this.

Creativity is the most important tool to stimulate Emotional Ownership of those issues that affect us all and to begin the action process with us all.
