THE OUR TOWN PROJECT
A socio-economic enablement project designed to turn around small-town economies, changing citizen’s lives and creating pilot models for other towns to follow, through a “mindset change” process, involving the whole town population, it’s economic and its agricultural communities by:
- Stimulating enterprise and possibility thinking.
- Identifying investment opportunities and packaging offers to investors
- Identifying potential entrepreneurs and facilitating ideas that have potential
- Delivering social impact through job creation and social enterprise facilitation
- Helping develop social stability, sustainability and Eco participation
- Encouraging and facilitating education and training
- Placing each project town onto a web-grid of opportunity
ONE YOUNG WORLD
Eco and Environmental Workshop
Raintree Solutions has been a One Young World supporter and sponsored delegates over a number of years.
Raintree mounted and funded the first One Young World Eco-breakaways for One Young World delegates, where powerful presentations around Eco and Environmental awareness and action were given to representatives from over twenty countries including Australia, England, France, Solomon Islands, Bangladesh, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Africa, India, Kenya, Cameroon, Brazil, Philippines, Indonesia, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, UAE, Dubai, UK and USA.
ONE YOUNG WORLD
Micro Lending and Social Enterprise Event
With GIBS business school and First National Bank, Raintree Solutions initiated and co-funded the special Mohammad Yunus workshop.
As a Nobel Laureate but more because of the pioneering work in micro lending to the poor and spreading the ‘gospel’ of Social Enterprise, Raintree felt it was crucial for business people and the public, to have a chance to hear prof Yunus.
The co-sponsors also enabled Bangladeshi youth delegates to attend One Young World.
WILDLIFE SUPPORT
With only 1,700 Brown Hyenas remaining in South Africa, and only 5-8,000 across the whole of Southern Africa, Project Phiri or the Brown Hyena Project was established to gain a better understanding of this endangered species.
Raintree chose to support this very important initiative. Like all environmental challenges, we must influence human Perception, Attitude and Behaviour to change current dynamics.
The Raintree Group has funded specialist cameras to help gain knowledge and broaden databases.
SPOTLIGHT SINGAPORE
Raintree Singapore Business Expo Cape Town.
Raintree mounted Spotlight Singapore in Cape Town in Partnership with OPH Singapore, the City of Cape Town and The Province of The Western Cape, WESGRO, EY, Accelerate Cape Town and Cape Town Tourism
240 South African and Singaporean businesses, writers and artists together for a week in Cape Town, furthering economic opportunities and cultural ties between the two maritime cities and their regional economies.
